I need some help

Hey guys on the forums...

Lately i got interested in the science behind prosthetics and bionic limbs... If it is not much trouble can you please list me the names of the fields in which i have to mostly study to understand and work with prosthetics?(in physics and biology for example) and maybe post a few links of some sites that explain how do they exactly work, how do they attach the nerves, and what type of actuators are there.

Lucy (movie)

I just saw a preview for a new movie coming out called "Lucy". Basically they say that humans only use 10% of their brains. Then it looks like they start giving some sort of chemicals to trial subjects and see if it makes them smarter. Well, the preview shows super abilities like telekinesis, etc.

Should be interesting to watch. Anyone else going to see it?

Jibo, the $500 Robot for the Whole Family

Have you seen this yet? Seems cool, but more like a novelty. The robot can talk back to you and answer questions, play music and even dance (by spinning around).

To be honest, I don't think I would get one. I'd rather my family "interact" with each other. It's funny, now we call it interacting, but it used to be called "talking". Like sitting down at the dinner table and talking. Now we are supposed to spend hundreds of dollars to have a little gadget talk FOR us.

How far we've come...

Japanese Robot Master Releases Best Robot Yet

Lifelike Robot

Why one is the human, and which one is the robot?

Ok so we all know that Japan leads the way in robotic technology. This robot really looks human. And they say it sounds human, too.

Another robot recently released only costs $2,000. Are you kidding me?

How come we can't buy robots like this yet? Are they available to the general public?

Finally, is THIS Artificial Intelligence?

So some Russian programmers wrote a program that mimicks a person. You can ask it questions and get responses (this is actually how most "AI" programs are tested.)

Supercomputers can be used for artificial intelligence programs - Example of an old supercomputer (CRAY-1)

So this particular program "fooled" 1/3 of the judges. Meaning, 33% of the judges "thought" the responses from this program were actually responses from a real person.
