Soheila, an Egyptian village housewife, traded her kidney for $2,185 to pay off debt -- the best option the desperate mother of three could find to keep food on the family table. The 32-year-old from the fertile Nile Delta region is one of many people caught up in a thriving trade for illegal organs in Egypt, where there is no legal path to transplants... Other Egyptians have complained of being tricked into giving up their kidneys, and some have filed lawsuits. In 2008, police arrested a Syrian and Jordanian over organ trade in Cairo.
This is what happens when you have an ultra-conservative society. The intention is a 'pure' society, yet the fact is people need and want to live their lives outside of the tight confines of the culture. So in Egypt, organ donation is illegal, and a huge blackmarket has developed for organ trade.
So much for their pure society.

Wow I can not believe the Egyptian government won't allow organ donors! It's not up to the government, it should be up to the individual person if they want to be an organ donor.
Isn't it against their religious beliefs? Of course, in America, that wouldn't fly (at least technically it wouln't, because of separation of church and state). I say if someone wants to donate their organ(s), they should be able to. I mean come on, they are saving a life!
This is also happening here in the Philippines. Some people are selling their kidneys just to buy some food, clothes, and to supplement their vices.
I want to become a bionic man with super strength and other bionic powers.
